Elmer F. Coover Jr., 85 of Hollidaysburg and formerly of Sandy Ridge, passed away on Aug. 27 at Altoona Regional Health Systems.
Born Nov. 21, 1925, he was the son of the late Elmer F. Coover and Laura Mae (Bousom) Coover.
He was of Christian faith and a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a retired truck driver for Butler Trucking in Woodland.
He enjoyed camping with his wife and friends.
On Dec. 31, 1944 in Tyrone he wed Viola M. (Brower) Coover. She passed away on Dec. 4, 1999. On May 29, 200 in Tyrone he wed Geraldine B. (Carper) Light Coover. She pased away on Jan. 21, 2010.
He was deceased by his parents, wives, daughter Dorothy Ammerman, two infant daughters and two infant sons and sister Hazel Rhodes.
He is survived by daughters Rita Carter and her husband Terry of Fayetville, NC, Brenda Ball and her husband John of Sandy Ridge and Laura Osewalt of Morrisdale; sons Dennis Coover of Houtzdale, Elmer F. Coover III of Osceola Mills and Charles Coover and his wife Cassie of Phililpsburg; sisters Eileen Carper of Altoona and Martha Shaul of Altoona; and 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held on Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. at the Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills with the Rev. Daniel B. Winters officiating. Burial will be at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. Militar honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
