Clarion University Student Journalists Join International Coverage of Flight 93 Memorial Dedication

CLARION – Seven members and an advisor of Clarion University’s student media organizations will cover the Flight 93 National Memorial Dedication and 10th anniversary Sept. 10 and 11 in Shanksville, Somerset County, Pa.

Dr. Laurie S. Miller, advisor of The Clarion Call student newspaper, and students from the newspaper, radio and television stations, WCUC-FM and WCUB-TV, have obtained press credentials to cover the event. They will be part of a media entourage that will include local, national and international journalists. Clarion student media coverage will include weekend updates on The Call’s website at www.clarioncallnews.com, articles in the newspaper and broadcasts on the radio and television stations.

Student reporters covering the event include: Kelsey Huebert and Russell Pekelnicky from The Clarion Call; Matt Knoedler, Dan Ober, Kelly Prozialeck and Katie Anderson from WCUB-TV; and Brittany Bender from WCUC-FM.

The Flight 93 National Memorial will be dedicated Sept. 10, one day before the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to the National Park Services’ Flight 93 Memorial website. A memorial servicewill be observed 9:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at the new plaza. The service will include a keynote address and a musical tribute.
