Obituary Notice: Ruth M. Long

Ruth M. Long, 91, of Philipsburg died Monday at Windy Hill Village. Born March 7, 1920 in Tyrone, she was the daughter of the late Judson and Helen (Webb) Goodman. She was the last of her generation.

Mrs. Long was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 379, Clearfield and the United Commercial Travelers, Clearfield.

She worked for Widmans Drug Store, Philipsburg, and was later employed as a driver for Ed Long, Long Motor Bus Company, Philipsburg, for many years until her retirement. She was a 1939 graduate of the Tyrone High School.

She was married to Arthur William Long on Feb. 26, 1942 in Winchester, VA and who preceded her in death on March 23, 1974. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ben Goodman and William Lykens.

Mrs. Long is survived by three sons, William A. Long and his wife, Gail of Munson and John A. Long and his companion, Janina and James R. Long and his wife, Barbara (Bonnie), all of Philipsburg, and two daughters, Janice R. Hugar of Morrisdale and Cindy K. Fitt and her husband, Bill of Osceola Mills.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 East Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Pastor Mark Thumma officiating.

Interment will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6 – 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday at the funeral home.
