Obituary Notice: David A. Pry

David A. Pry, 79, of Woodland died early Friday morning at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born July 2, 1932 in Clearfield, he was the son of Joseph and Beulah (Rowles) Pry. Mr. Pry was retired from Lawrence Township as a heavy equipment operator.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He was a charter member of the Glen Richey Volunteer Fire Department., a member of the Central District Volunteer Fireman’s Association, the Clearfield Creek Rifle Club, and both the Clearfield American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

On Dec. 16, 1957, he wed the former Darlene K. Read, whom survives along with three children, Debra Lewis and her husband, Jeff of Orange Park, FL; David A. Pry and his wife, Cheryl of Curwensville; and Edward D. Pry of Woodland.

He’s survived by seven grandchildren, Jeffi Lewis and his wife, Amy of Orange Park, FL; Justin Lewis and his wife, Michelle of Maine; Tricia Rothrock and her husband, Tiger of Wallaceton; Sonja Rudy and her husband, “JR” of Curwensville; Adam and Bryan Pry, both of Woodland; and Kira Johnston and her husband, Brad of Clearfield; and six great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister and five brothers, Sarah Lumadue of West Decatur; Albert Pry of Curwensville; Paul Pry and his wife Dee of Woodland; Joe Pry and his wife, San and Ken Pry and his wife, Carole, all of Mineral Springs; Sam Pry and his wife, Delores of Cherry Tree; a sister-in-law, Linda Pry of Woodland; a brother-in-law, Dwight Read and his wife, Ruth; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Mohney and her husband, Don and Joan Gill and her husband, Mike as well as several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bessie Brown and a brother, Richard.

Funeral services for Mr. Pry will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield, with the Rev. Kenneth Pry officiating. 

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 p.m. until time of services.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
