This year seven teams will compete for the coveted “Past Your Prime” travel trophy that now resides at Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub of Clearfield, winner of last year’s rain-shortened event.
Tournament chair Jerry Bickel and field co-ordinator Ken “Buck” Danver recently announced the match-ups for the tourney.
Action will begin at 9:00 a.m. when last years’ runners-up, the Bedford Hillbillies will face off with Siegel Engraving/Buster’s Sports Bar.
Next up at 10:30 will be Clearfield Electronics and the Emporium Used-to-be-Goods. First round action will conclude at noon with the defending champs of Denny’s playing The Meatheads.
Potter’s Bricklayers of Philipsburg receivd a first-round bye and will play the winner of the Bedford – Siegel Engraving/Buster’s game at 1:30 p.m.
All games will be played at Bucky Strunk Memorial Field in Clearfield.
Proceeds from the charity event will support youth activities all over the region. The Marine Corps League’s Toys for Tots Program will be the number one recepient of monies raised.
Play will continue in the double-elimination tournament on Sunday as well, concluding with the championship game at 3:00 p.m.
Head concessionaire “Woody” will be providing plenty of eats in what promises to be a fun-filled event.
The Toys for Tots, headed by Dick Provost, will be selling 50-50’s both days and plenty of valuable door prizes will also be won by some lucky contestants.
