Newark, NJ Man Accused of Aggravated Assault

PHILIPSBURG – A 35-year-old Newark, NJ man has been accused of aggravated assault after a domestic incident at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at a North Second Street residence, Philipsburg Borough. The Philipsburg-based state police identified the accused as Hysound J. Murphy, 35, of Newark, NJ.

According to the report, the man was intoxicated when he arrived at a 36-year-old Philipsburg woman’s residence and engaged in a verbal argument with her. Their dispute allegedly became physical when he started slapping and strangling the woman, state police said.

The man was arrested and transported to the Centre County Correctional Facility. He was committed to the facility, and his bail was set at $25,000 straight. There was also an active warrant out against him in Essex County, NJ.
