CLEARFIELD – With the fair a week away, we thought we’d throw out a reminder regarding who’s on the big stage this year: Cinderella, with special guests FireHouse and Slaughter, Trace Adkins and Kellie Pickler, the Righteous Brothers’ Bill Medley and Big Time Rush .
For tickets and times, check out the fair’s Web site.
Hard rock icons Cinderella are back with the all original line-up of Tom Keifer (vocals, guitar), Eric Brittingham (bass), Jeff LaBar (guitar) and Fred Coury (drums). Cinderella was formed in Philadelphia in 1982 by singer-songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist Tom Keifer and bassist Eric Brittingham. Cinderella got their big break when Jon Bon Jovi saw them perform at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia and recommended that his A&R rep see them as well. In 1985, with a recording contract with Mercury/Polygram Records, the band entered the studio with legendary producer Andy Johns (Led Zeppelin) to record their debut album “Night Songs”. “Night Songs” was released in June 1986 and eventually achieved triple platinum status, selling 50,000 copies per week at one point. Cinderella has sold over 18 million albums to date worldwide.
FireHouse has been on the scene since 1990, with their first album FireHouse. Their song “Don’t Treat Me Bad” was their first Top Ten success. Their next hit, “Love of a Lifetime” was number three on the charts. At the 1991 American Music Awards, Firehouse found themselves standing before the nation accepting the award for Best New Hard Rock/Metal Band, chosen over Nirvana and Alice in Chains.
Since then, the band has released eight more albums.
In 1990, Slaughter hit radio, MTV and the U.S. touring circuit like a tornado- coming seemingly out of nowhere to roll through everything in its path and turn it upside down. Touring the world with bands that they loved, Kiss, Ozzy, and others meant the good times were just a song away, and their first hit single, “Up All Night” certainly fit into that mold, their second chart-topper, “Fly To The Angels” was more representative of the spirituality and awareness that goes into most of the band’s music and lyrics. But never were Slaughter more accurately represented that live onstage in front of their legions of devoted fans over the last 10 years.
Oldies Night will feature the Righteous Brothers’ Bill Medley. You’ve heard his iconic songs throughout the decades on radio and TV and the big screen. Now hear him perform live hits such as “Unchained Melody”, one of the most played songs in the history of radio, “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling”, and “I’ve Had The Time of My Life” written for the movie Dirty Dancing. Medley will perform on Tuesday night.
Announced earlier this year were acts Trace Adkins, Kellie Pickler and Big Time Rush.
He has long been country music’s alpha male, a man whose commanding presence and once-in-a-generation baritone have made him a pillar of the contemporary Nashville sound. With the release of his latest, Cowboy’s Back In Town, Trace Adkins launches a new chapter in one of the genre’s most storied careers. He teamed with his friend Blake Shelton on the latter’s recent single, “Hillbilly Bone,” which went to the top of the charts and was named ACM Vocal Event of the Year, and, to top it all off, he was voted Country’s Sexiest Man by the readers of Country Weekly.
Since late 2005, Kellie Pickler has been living life in fast forward. Landing a spot on the 5th season of American Idol, Kellie made it all the way to the top six, a finish good enough to guarantee her a place on the American Idol tour. Her unmistakable talent and star quality also earned her a recording contract in Nashville. Kellie burst onto the scene as the country cutie on “American Idol,” and since leaving the show, she’s released two albums and won three CMT Music Awards.
Big Time Rush is living proof of the proverb “good things come to those who wait.” The process of finding Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena and Logan Henderson began three years ago, and now, after an incredibly successful first season on their hit Nickelodeon show of the same name, the band is finally ready to unveil their debut album entitled BTR. To understand Big Time Rush is to know their smash series, which boasts the highest-rated and most-watched live-action premiere in the history of the network, attracting 6.8 million viewers. Big Time Rush is excited to take their music to the stage, not just to perform live before their fans, but to also show them who they are outside of their on-screen personas.
