Update for I-80/Kylertown Bridge Work

HARRISBURG – Bridge replacement work on westbound Interstate 80 near Kylertown will reach a new phase on July 21.  During the morning hours on Thursday, crews will close the passing (left) lane between mile-markers 133 and 134 westbound and traffic will move through the area in the travel (right) lane. Drivers can expect delays as the lane switch, barrier placement and rolling roadblocks take place.

Drivers should remain alert for a shift within the work zone near the Kylertown exit and the bridge spanning state Route 53. That restriction will guide traffic across the bridge using the passing (left) lane.

Pennsylvania State Police will be on site to enhance safety through the work zone.

Drivers will also be able to find updated notification of the switch on roadside message boards and through the Highway Advisory Radio System at 1640 on the am dial.

Through the end of the year, crews will continue working to replace the SR 2037 and SR 53 westbound bridges in the area of the I-80 Kylertown interchange.  All work is weather and schedule dependent. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the contractor on this $10 million project.

Drivers are reminded to obey posted speed limits, use caution in construction zones and always buckle up. PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
