Curwensville Teens Moderately Injured in ATV Accident

KNOX TOWNSHIP – Two, 13-year-old Curwensville girls sustained moderate injuries after an all-terrain vehicle accident at 5:49 p.m. Saturday along state Route 2032 in Knox Township, the Clearfield-based state police reported.

The operator was wearing a motorcycle helmet; a helmet wasn’t worn by her passenger. Both girls were transported to the Clearfield Hospital for further medical evaluation by the parent of the operator.

According to the report, the operator was traveling and attempting to negotiate a sharp curve at an unsafe speed. The ATV crossed the oncoming traffic lane and struck the guiderail.

At that time, the ATV traveled back onto the roadway, where it overturned and came to a final rest on the northbound shoulder. Both the operator and her passenger were thrown from the ATV.

The operator is being cited for operating an ATV on the highway.
