How the Red Cross is Helping
As Red Cross recovery operations continue in tornado-devastated neighborhoods throughout the South and Midwest, hundreds of workers are mobilizing to help people in Idaho, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Utah and Wyoming as rivers throughout the area threaten to overflow their banks.
Since March 31, the Red Cross has launched 42 separate relief operations in 29 states. Wildfires in Texas, flooding along the swollen Mississippi and Missouri rivers and the rash of angry tornadoes have led to the deployment of more than 12,000 Red Cross workers from all 50 states to help those in need. The Red Cross has served more than 3 million meals and snacks, and handed out more than 1.4 million items like tarps and work gloves to help people in need.
LOCAL NEWS
As a volunteer organization, it is volunteers that make our services available in all our communities. Without volunteers in each community, providing services becomes more challenging and takes longer for volunteers from outside the community to respond. You can make a difference in your community by becoming a Red Cross volunteer. Contact the American Red Cross to find out more.

Red Cross is a United Way and United Fund Participating Agency and RSVP Station.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation’s blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
