One World, Many Stories Continues at Shaw Public Library

CLEARFIELD – Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library’s One World, Many Stories summer reading program offered an entertaining performance from master puppeteer Steve Abrams on July 5.  Abrams’ show had families laughing during Shaw Public Library’s second Family Fun Night of the summer.  The summer reading program resumes with “A World of Art” week July 12 through July 14.  Youth of all ages will experience different forms of art from around the world through the experience of several great presenters.

On July 12 at 10:30 a.m., art teacher Becky Dugan will present “To Paint or Not to Paint.”  Dugan, an art teacher at Curwensville Area School District, will display different types of artwork from places all over the world.

Local musician Mark Wurster will conduct “Sweet Music” as part of the art themed week of activities.  Wurster will expose area youth to a variety of music from areas that are both far and near to Clearfield on July 13 at 10:30 a.m.

“A World of Art” week concludes on July 14 with Ashley Lowman’s “Dance, Dance, Dance!” program.  Lowman, a Clearfield resident and dance major at Slippery Rock University will have participants practicing dance moves from other cultures.

The second young adult program of the You Are Here summer reading program will be held July 14 at 2:00 p.m.  Jessica Ross, a certified Zumba instructor in the Clearfield area, will teach young adult participants all about this fun, exciting dance craze.  Sign-ups for this event are available by calling the library at 814-765-3271.  Young adults are also reminded to contact the library if they are interested in participating in the cultural food and costume events.  Anyone who enjoys cooking or designing clothes should contact the library for more information on this worthwhile project.

The Souvenir Shop will open on July 11 at 10:00 a.m.  Youth involved in the summer reading program may redeem their passport stamps for chances to win several great prizes or shop at the One World, Many Stories store.  Souvenir Shop store hours are Mondays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
