CLEARFIELD – An investigation is currently continuing into an explosive device that was located by a fisherman Thursday night in the Susquehanna River, the Lawrence Township Police Department reported.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., police were dispatched to the Hog Back Bridge area on Carbon Mine Road for a reported explosive device. A medium-sized, steel pipe bomb was found in the middle of the river by a fisherman.
The Pennsylvania State Police Explosive Device Unit of Hershey was contacted about the device, and its troopers responded to dispose of the device, police said.
Police were assisted by the Clearfield County Department of Emergency Management and the Pennsylvania State Police EDU of Hershey. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Lawrence Township Police Department at 814-765-1533.
