Battle of the Bands to Take Place During Lion’s Pride Festival

DUBOIS – The Lion’s Pride Summer Fest planned for August will feature a battle of the bands, and a host of other family oriented activities.

Sponsored by the Penn State DuBois Alumni Society, Timberland Federal Credit Union, and Scenic View Recreation Center, the event is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Aug. 20, at the Scenic View Recreation Center, located 1 mile from the DuBois blinker light across from Thunderbird Restaurant on Route 322.

Bands will compete in the Battle of the Bands competition, and spectators are asked to vote for their favorite group by placing tickets in the band’s designated box.  The winning band will take home a trophy. There will also be food, batting cages, mini-golf, a driving range, a ‘grab the money’ air machine, and more.  There is no admission fee. Proceeds collected from the competition, food sales and games will benefit Alumni Society outreach programs, such as scholarships and other educational interests.

Only a limited number of bands can register for the competition. The deadline is July 13.  To register, call 814-375-4775, or email duboisalumni@psu.edu.
