CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Basic Needs Fund for Clearfield County. This fund was established through a gift from the Peirce Park Group, an investment consulting firm based in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Peirce Park was working in Clearfield County and wished to make a local charitable contribution to address basic needs, with a focus on hunger related issues. They were referred to the Foundation and the fund was established.

In keeping with the donor’s intent in establishing the Basic Needs Fund, the Foundation has been able to make grant awards to each of ten food banks serving diverse areas of Clearfield County. These food banks include: Burnside/Mahaffey Food Pantry; Curwensville Food Pantry; Clearfield Ministerium Food Pantry; DuBois Ministerium Food Pantry; DuBois Salvation Army; Houtzdale Community Action; Karthaus Food Pantry; Osceola Mills Food Pantry; West Branch/Allport Food Pantry; and Westover Food Pantry.

Established in 2004, the Clearfield Community Charitable Foundation is one of more than 300 community foundations in the United States, and its purpose is to enhance the quality of life in Clearfield County through the support of services that promote health, education, social welfare, public and urban affairs, arts and culture, conservation and the environment. The Foundation accomplishes this by stimulating the establishment of endowments to serve local communities now and in the future, and by awarding grants to local charitable organizations.

According to Kevin McMillen, chairman of the Foundation, “We are extremely grateful to Peirce Park Group for the gift made to establish the Basic Needs Fund. As a result, we have been able to make grants to food banks serving local communities throughout all of Clearfield County.”

The Foundation hopes to see this new Fund grow in order to better meet local community needs, and welcomes contributions on an ongoing basis. Additional donations may be made to the Basic Needs Fund or to any of the Funds established with the Foundation.

The Clearfield Community Charitable Foundation welcomes inquiries from potential donors or those interested in establishing funds to benefit local communities and organizations. Additional information regarding the Foundation is available by calling (814)765-7682.
