CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Little League 9-and-10 All-Stars grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but Tri-County pecked away with runs in every other at-bat to eke out a 6-5 win in a District 5 Northern Tier Tournament winner’s bracket semifinal game at Kurtz Field Saturday evening.
The visitors broke a 4-4 tie in the fifth and added what proved to be the deciding tally in the sixth.
Jeremy Learish homered for two runs and Nathan Barr singled twice for Clearfield, which will be at home again Monday against Four-Leaf Clover in an elimination bracket quarterfinal.
Eli Glass was the losing pitcher, with Wyatt Porter relieving in the sixth inning.
Tri-County (2-0) got pairs of hits from Cory Lehman and Ethan Moore. Lehman and Parker Mitchell had doubles.
Mitchel was the winner in relief of Moore. Tanner Kuruzovich came on in the final frame to pick up the save.
