CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. has announced its acceptance of a contribution from C. Alan Walker and family to fund the 2011 Bucknell Summer Internship Program.

With the contribution, the CRC is able to offer a 14-week internship program to Chris Renaud, whom will be entering his junior year at Bucknell University this fall with a duel major in Political Science and Philosophy, and a minor in Legal Studies.

Renaud was born and raised in Clearfield and graduated from the Clearfield Area High School in 2009 as the salutatorian. He currently carries a cumulative grade point average of 3.96 at Bucknell University.

During the course of his internship, he’ll become educated of the Main Street program, community development and revitalization, specifically in Clearfield. He’ll gain experience in several areas, such as special event planning, retaining and recruiting business, public speaking, marketing, time management and volunteer development.

Renaud will also have the opportunity to strengthen his skill areas related to decision-making, cooperation, multi-tasking, organization, communication and writing. In addition, he has been assigned multiple projects to complete throughout this internship. For example, he is currently spearheading the Downtown Business and Property Inventory for the Main Street District of Clearfield.

“We are so thankful for the Walker family for being so generous to the CRC. Without this contribution, the internship program would be non-existent and the CRC would not have the opportunity to impact the youth of the Clearfield area. I am appreciative to have the opportunity to mentor Chris, as he has been a wonderful addition to the CRC this summer,” said Kellie Truman, Main Street Manager.

C. Alan Walker, secretary of the state’s Department of Community and Economic Development, values the impact of the youth in local communities, especially in his hometown of Clearfield.

“By giving the future generations of our area an opportunity like this and outlining the impact that one can make, it shows that we can adapt to change accordingly and control our own destiny, as a community and individually,” he said.

Truman added, “As Clearfield continues to grow, Chris will have that same opportunity through his internship. Part of the CRC mission is to impact the lives of those in our community, and it starts with one person at a time.

“Through this internship, the Walker’s have made it possible for the CRC to leave an impact in Chris’s path, wherever that may take him in his professional career after college.”

The CRC sincerely thanks C Alan Walker, his wife, Judy and son, Derek for their contribution for their support and belief in the Clearfield Revitalization Corp.
