DUBOIS – Sandy Townshship’s Municipal Authority and Board of Supervisors moved towards the $3.4 million dollar loan to pay for the recent water project.
The loan, from Rural Utilities Services, will be in the name of the Sandy Township Municipal Authority and will be paid over 40 years by the authority’s customers. Sandy Township will guarantee the loan in a similar way a parent cosigning a loan for a child.
The tap fee for joining the water system is $1,500 as the current standard for Sandy Township after the Monday night meeting. This can be amended in the future, but for now anyone joining any part of the township water system has to pay this amount to hook up.
Before the loan goes through the township will be filing for approval from DCED that this won’t put the township over their debt limit.
The next township and municipal meetings, scheduled originally for July 4, have been rescheduled to July 5 due to the holiday. They will be at the same times as normal.
