CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough will get 350 new digital meters to replace the mechanical meters currently installed. Those meters will be installed on poles that were taken to replace broken meters in heavier parked areas.
In the latest round of meter inspections, 90 were found to have failed. A meter has considered failed when it counts the passing time either too slowly or quickly. The last round of inspections found 60 failed meters.
Digital meters are going to be installed as, according to Borough Manger Leslie Stott, mechanical meters have not been manufactured in over a decade. Stott also stated that there have been people inquiring on purchasing the mechanical guts of the meters no longer in service.
