Lillian Sue Welsch, age 84, died during the early morning hours on June 12, 2011 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born October 17, 1926, in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Williams) Shannon. She was a very loving and supportive Mother of six children and a retired factory worker. She was married to her beloved spouse, the late Jerome K. Welsch. Lillian was a devout Catholic, and a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Kathryn R. Ishler (Larry), Erie, PA; four sons, Jerome K. Welsch, Jr. (Debra), Hamburg, NY; Michael W. Welsch (Beth) Kennett Square, PA; and John E. Welsch, DuBois, PA and James E. Welsch of Falls Creek, PA; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. In addition to her spouse, parents and other siblings, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Sue Welsch.
She will be remembered by her children, not for the status that she attained in this world, but for the gifts that she so generously gave to others: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and an awareness of the glory of God. Most of all, she will be remembered for her ability to love unconditionally, never mindful of the cost to herself.
There will be no public visitation.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church on June 16 at 10 a.m. with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Reynoldsville, PA.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Goble Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.
