Alice Jane Howell, 89, formerly of Curwensville and most recently of Rock Hill, SC died on June 12, 2011 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1921 in Bigler, a daughter of the late Walter D. and Effa (Pierce) Rinehart.
Mrs. Howell retired from Kent’s Sportswear, and enjoyed sewing and reading.
She will be missed by loved ones and family members.
She is survived by a son, James Allen Howell and wife Phyllis of Rock Hill, SC, two grandchildren, Sam Rumfola and wife Sharon of Rock Hill, SC, Rebecca Schwartz of Hanover, three great granddaughters, Sydney Rumfola, Sommer Rumfola, Alicen Schwartz and a brother, Francis Rinehart and wife Shirley of Niagara Falls, NY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Howell on Aug. 21, 1981 and whom she married Oct. 12, 1946 in Clearfield, a sister Vivian English, and two brothers, Calvin Rinehart and Walter Rinehart, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville, RD on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Robert S. Ludrowsky officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m.
