Edward E. “Hump” Campbell, 87, formerly of Highview Village died Thursday at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
Born on July 8, 1923 in Clearfield, he was a son of the late Earl J. and Helen M. (Moore) Campbell. He attended the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.
A graduate of St. Francis High School, Mr. Campbell retired from the Rural Electric Association. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Army in Africa and Europe. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Campbell was a life member of the Clearfield Fire Company No. 1 and a charter member of the Keystone Trailer Travel Club. He was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the National Campers and Hikers Association.
He’s survived by his wife, Idabell D. (Fink) Campbell with whom he recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They were wed May 31, 1946 in the rectory of St. Francis Church, Clearfield.
Mr. Campbell’s also survived by three daughters, Linda and her husband, Lex Curry Jr. of Curwensville; Suzanne and her husband, Charles Rumfola Jr. of Clearfield; Connie and her husband, Bill Wetzel Sr. of Curwensville; six grandchildren, Ian Curry, Tenley Luzier, Sam Rumfola, Becky Schwartz, Bill Wetzel, Bryan Wetzel; six great-grandchildren, Alicen Schwartz, Sydney and Sommer Rumfola, Mark Ifversen, Wyatt and Cole Wetzel; a sister, Margaret C. ‘Sis’ Bloom and her husband, Lynn of Grampian; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 2 – 5 p.m. Sunday and from 12 – 1 p.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield. A Christian Vigil Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
