Angelo V. Monella, age 80 of Maple Avenue in DuBois, PA died June 9, 2011 at his residence.
He was born on May 22, 1931 in Barnesboro, PA. He was the son of the late Carl M. Monella, Sr. and Angeline (Brancato) Monella.
He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War.
On March 22, 1952, he married Lois L. (Lines) Monella. She survives.
He was a truck driver for 35 years. He retired from Preston Trucking.
He attended the Sandy High School. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, the James J. Patterson Post 813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four daughters: Lorna Rieg and her husband, Edward of Big Run, PA, Cindy Lydick and her husband, Steve of Falls Creek, PA, Sue Thom and her husband, Ken of Ridgway, PA and Pat Monella of Reynoldsville, PA, two sons, David Monella and his wife, Tammy of DuBois, PA and Daniel Monella and his wife, Michelle of DuBois, PA, one brother, Samuel Monella of DuBois, PA and one sister, Lillian Ponzi of DuBois, PA, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Carl M. Monella, Jr. and his great granddaughter, Sydney Rae Anthony.
Visitation will be held on June 10 from 3-8 p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.
A funeral service will be held on June 11 at 10 a.m. from the Goble Baronick Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Bockus officiating.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorials can be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice.
