CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr., has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of June 6, 2011.
Shaw identified the fugitive as John Rokoski, 47, of New Castle. He stated that Rokoski is wanted in two separate cases for failure to appear at a criminal call on May 12.
On March 15, 2010, Officer Steve Maholtz of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Rokoski with: driving under the influence; fleeing or attempting to elude police officer; stop signs and yield signs; driving vehicle at safe speed; driving on right side of roadway; obedience to traffic-control devices; drivers required to be licensed; and driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Maholtz states that on March 5, 2010, while on routine patrol, officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at a posted stop sign. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop by activating their emergency lights; however, the vehicle failed to stop.
Officers pursued the vehicle for several blocks until the vehicle became immobilized in the snow. The driver then exited the vehicle and did not comply with the officers’ orders to remain near the vehicle, and the driver began running away from the officers.
Officers then followed the individual and upon apprehending the driver of the vehicle, Maholtz detected signs of impairment. Rokoski was then transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 4 at which time all charges were held for court. On May 12, Rokoski failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
In a separate case, Maholtz filed a criminal complaint on April 26, 2010, charging Rokoski with unauthorized use of automobiles and other vehicles.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Maholtz states that on March 6, 2010, a Dubois City resident reported that her vehicle was missing. Upon investigation, it was found that Rokoski had taken the victim’s vehicle without permission.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 4 at which time all charges were held for court. On May 12, Rokoski failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Rokoski is described as follows standing approximately 6 feet tall with blue eyes and brown hair.
