Prudence M. (Kopec) Fitz, 95, of Clearfield died Friday at her residence.
Born on May 19, 1916, in LaPorte, IN, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Stephania (Meitkevich) Kopec. Mrs. Fitz was a 1932 graduate of Academy High School, Erie and was a homemaker.
She worked in the accounting department of the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Harrisburg and for Christian Broadcasting of Pittsburgh. She also was a talented seamstress.
She was associated with Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
Mrs. Fitz is survived by three daughters, Virginia A. Howell and her husband, Charles Terrance Howell of Clearfield; Susan F. Melander and her husband, Wayne R.
Melander of Wilmington, NC and Madera; and Danise P. Fitz of Las Vegas, NV. A former son-in-law, Richard L. Dueker of Clearfield also survives.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Lance Dueker and his wife, Erin of Fresno, CA; Noel Dueker and his companion, Trisha Amering of Clearfield; Kristin Carter and her husband, Stephen of Orlando, FL; Leith Dueker and his wife, Noeme of Rochester, NY; Davita Melander of Martinsburg, WV; Sonja Melander of Buffalo, NY; Charles Todd Howell and his wife, Teresa of Ramey; Mary Beth Howell of Pittsburgh; Daniel Howell of Harrisburg; and Patrick Gibbons of Las Vegas, NV. Eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Fitz is survived by a brother, Andrew F. Kopec of Champagne, IL. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Fitz was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel R. Fitz on Oct. 31, 1979 and three brothers and two sisters.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 – 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc. of Madera.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday at the Madera United Methodist Church, Madera with Pastor Robert Ford officiating. Interment will follow in the Alexander Cemetery , Madera.
