STRONGSTOWN, PA – After six consecutive weeks of rainouts, Jim Michny was finally able to get his 14th season of racing underway Friday night with Charleson Furniture sponsoring the trophies to the following winners: John Britsky of Indiana in the Townsend Gas and Oil Super Late Models; Mike Blose of Dayton in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late Models; Nick Goss of Punxsutawney in the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Street Stocks; Matt Krause of Brisbin in the Brush Valley Tire Pure Stocks and John Hayes of Clymer in the Four Cylinder Sidewinders and Bob Pease of Blairsville in the Modified Four Cylinders.

The super late models hit the track with Billy Eash and John Britsky on the front row. Britsky took the lead at the start as Ron Delano Jr. took second and Steve Everhart moved to third to challenge the leader.

As the field entered lapped traffic, Dave Day was slowing to pit and Ryan Krause didn’t see him and slammed into the rear of the Day car, sending both to a grinding halt. Neither driver was injured but both cars sustained heavy damage.

The red changed to yellow and then green with Everhart all over Britsky, and as the race drew to a close Everhart started reeling he leader in, but Britsky found an extra surge of power and pulled away from Everhart and took the opening night win. Everhart was second with Delano third before a caution waved to revert to the previous lap. Clate Copeman and Sam Stile completed the top five. Heat wins went to Delano and Stile.

The Fastrak Late Models saw Ken Herman and Mike Blose on the front row with Herman getting the jump and leading the opening three laps before Blose took the lead. Tommy Snyder then forced his way into the runner up position and tried to catch Blose, but Blose had found the groove and was not to be denied the victory. Snyder held on for second with Herman, Joe Moyer and Andrew Wylie completing the top five. Snyder, Mike Laughard and Joe Martin split the heat wins. John Eckenrod won the B-main.

Nick Goss and Ray Hickok brought the street stocks to the green with Goss picking up where he left off last season, leading the event with Hickok second at the start before Josh Jacoby took over trying to steal the lead, but out of nowhere Andy Klingensmith was headed to the front but he just didn’t have enough time as Goss took the win with Klingensmith closing in. The top five were: Goss, Klngensmith, Jacoby, Hickok and Tyler Hite. Heat wins went to Hickok and Jeff Sweeney.

Matt Krause and Eric Ager led the pure stocks to the green with Krause taking the lead and setting the pace. Ager was second and trying to keep Krause in his sights as Matt Summers was working on Ager when Jeremy Shaffer moved to second on lap 10 as Justin Queen moved into fourth and was working on Ager. Shaffer was trying the inside of Krause but he was bound and determined to hold on for the victory. At the waving of Bob Sullingers checkered flag it was Krause over Shaffer, Queen, Ager and Summers. Heat wins went to Krause and Shaffer.

The four cylinder sidewinders had Jack Theys and Mike Phillipson on the front row, with Chris Yoder leading the opening lap over Theys and John Hayes, then on lap four Hayes took the lead with Ray Edwards second and trying to take the victory, but it was all Hayes at the finish. The top five were Hayes, Edwards, Mark Wetzel Jr., Yoder and John Lee. Heat wins went to Bill Hassenplug, Jayson Newlin and Sean Fitzpatrick.
Chris Hickok led the opening lap of the modified four cylinder feature with Mark Maglet in second and Bob Pease in third. On the second lap it was Pease leading with Hickok now second and Tom Pavelko headed to the front, but Pease was able to hold off all chellengers for the win. The top five were: Pease, Pavelko, Hickok, Maglet and Paul Little. Hickok won the heat.
