Fugitive of the Week: Cruz Carpin

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of May 31, 2011. Shaw identified the Fugitive as Cruz Carpin, age 21, of South Michael Street, St. Marys.

Shaw stated that Carpin is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call held on May 13, 2011.

On Nov. 8, 2010, Officer Josh Johnston of the Sandy Township Police Department, filed a criminal complaint charging Carpin with: 1) theft by deception, M, 7 counts; and 2) bad checks, S, 7 counts.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Johnston states that in October 2010, the Sandy Township Police received a report of theft and bad checks from a Sandy Township business. Upon investigation it was found that on seven occasions Carpin had issued checks in order to obtain merchandise and services, however the checks were for a closed bank account

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Dec. 23, 2010, at which time all charges were held for Court. On May 13, 2011, Carpin failed to appear for Criminal Call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Sex: Male

Height: 6 feet, 3 inches

Eyes: Hazel

Hair: Brown
