Laurel Run Trail: 3 p.m.
Lou and Helen Adams CCC Museum
This is a “Get Outdoors PA” program and a part of PA Hiking Week. One of the most beautiful trails in the park, the Laurel Run Trail, is often overlooked by visitors.
Join us as we hike along a forested stream, taking in the many natural and historic features of the trail. We’ll even pass through an area devastated by a natural disaster.
Please wear appropriate footwear for walking/hiking. We’ll be hiking about one mile on the trail, then looping back into the main park area along Tyler and Mud Run Roads. Also, bring along some water to drink if you think you may need it.
Do You Smell Something?: 8:30 p.m. – Campground Amphitheater
Hopefully, you don’t know from first-hand experience, but the smell of skunk can be pretty overwhelming. We wouldn’t want to scare one of these creatures but learning more about them is fascinating. We’ll watch scientists as they study skunks, and we’ll discuss how to act and react around the local striped critters who commonly visit the park’s cabins and campsites.

Beaver Dam Trail: 12 p.m. – Beach House
This is a “Get Outdoors PA” program and a part of PA Hiking Week. This easy, two-mile hike will take us through areas of the park, where it’s common to see or see sign of deer, elk, bear, turkey and yes, beaver.
It is also the time of year to keep our eyes open for the various wildflowers that are in bloom. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking/hiking. Also, bring along some water to drink if you think you may need it.
Pennsylvania Forests: 4 p.m.- Environmental Education Classroom
Pennsylvania’s forests have always been an important part of the development of the Commonwealth, and its economy. Now more than ever, visitors are taking part in the many recreational opportunities that the state’s reborn forests provide.
Come learn about the forest’s interesting past and the delicate future, as we watch a retired state forester reflect on the history of the state’s forest.
Make plans now: Parker Dam State Park is participating in National Get Outdoors Day June 11. Join us as we learn more about all the boundless recreational opportunities that await us in the great outdoors.
You can learn more about paddling a kayak, backpacking a trail, riding a bike or many more fun activities that the whole family can enjoy. All you need to bring along is yourself and a “can-do” attitude. Join us at the white tents behind the Beach House all morning and afternoon.
