Robert M. Sankey, 87, of Osceola Mills died Friday at his home.
Born April 6, 1924, he was the son of the late Maynard and Laure (Mayhew) Sankey. He was a member of the Osceola Mills Methodist Church.
Mr. Sankey was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 5020 and the American Legion of Osceola Mills.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He graduated from the former Osceola Mills High School in the class of 1943.
On July 26, 1947, he wed Norma (Hovis) Sankey, whom survives at home in Osceola Mills.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sankey was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Sankey as well as an infant brother.
He’s survived by two daughters, Linda Latosky and her husband, Thomas of Houtzdale and Kristen Meersand and her companion, Alvin McCracken of Morrisdale; and two sons, Jack Sankey and his wife, Jan of Bald Eagle and Robert “Bo” Sankey and his wife, Patty Sankey of Philipsburg.
Also surviving are one sister, Eleanor Petulla and her husband, Tony of Osceola Mills; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A public funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of the Umbria Cemetery, Osceola Mills, with the Pastor Jennifer C. Heikes officiating. Interment will be in the Umbria Cemetery.
At the request of Mr. Sankey, there will be no viewing.
Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the United Methodist Church, 303 Curtin St., Osceola Mills, PA 16666.
