UNION TOWNSHIP – A 22-year-old Julian man faces charges of simple assault and harassment following an incident during which he’s accused of strangling a woman at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in Union Township, the Philipsburg-based state police reported.
According to the report, the man engaged in verbal altercation, which became physical with a 19-year-old Howard woman. The man allegedly strangled the victim to the point where she wasn’t able to breathe, police said.
The defendant threw the woman down and drug her across the floor. At one point, she attempted to escape from the defendant and picked up her 1-year-old daughter to do so. While holding her the child in her arms, she was kicked in her back by the defendant. She subsequently fell to the ground with her daughter in her arms, police said.
