Kiwanis Club of Clearfield Offering Scholarship

The Kiwanis Club of Clearfield is currently accepting applications for the 2011-12 Kenneth M. Gearhart Memorial Scholarship, which is open to students in financial need to begin or continue their education at the Clearfield Campus of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.

The amount of the scholarship is up to one full year (two semesters) tuition, with a minimum award of $500.

Candidates must be a resident of Clearfield County, have been accepted at the Clearfield Campus.  While all students are eligible, preference may be given to a non-traditional student, someone who is continuing his or her education three or more years after graduating from high school.

The scholarship will be awarded based upon financial need, evaluation of career objectives and prior academic performance.  A personal interview may also be required. 

Applications are available at the LHU-Clearfield campus or from any Kiwanis Club member.

The club gives the scholarship in memory of Mr. Gearhart, a charter member served as Club Secretary for over sixty-five years.  This is the twentieth year that the scholarship has been offered.
