Fugitive Located in Cambria County Jail

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive. Shaw identified the Fugitive as Christopher Walters, age 27, of Fallentimber. Walters was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on May 2, 2011.

Shaw said that Walters was located after being lodged in the Cambria County Jail for an unrelated matter.
 

 

Shaw stated that Walters was wanted for failure to appear at a Preliminary Hearings held on Jan. 19, 2011 and Jan. 26, 2011.On Dec. 16, 2010, Trooper Matthew Peacock of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint charging Walters with: 1) theft by unlawful taking, M1; and 2) receiving stolen property, M1.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Peacock states that in September 2010, the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into the theft of scrap metal from a property in Beccaria Township. Upon investigation, it was found that Walters had unlawfully removed a large amount of scrap metal from the victim’s property.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for January 19, 2011, at which time Walters failed to appear and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

In a separate case, Trooper Justin Thacik of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint on Dec. 13, 2010 charging Walters with theft by unlawful taking, M2.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Thacik states that on Nov. 8, 2010, the Pennsylvania State Police responded to a Beccaria Township location for a report of theft. Upon arrival at the scene, the victim reported that he observed Walters and another individual unlawfully removing scrap metal from his property. The victim also relayed that he had detained Walters at the scene until the arrival of the State Police. Trooper Tkacik made contact with Walters, and did observe a vehicle containing the victim’s scrap metal.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 26, 2011, at which time Walters failed to appear and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
