University Park, Pa. — Coming off a 2011 NCAA Tournament appearance and the program’s first-ever run to the Big Ten Tournament Championship game, Penn State coach Ed DeChellis and the Nittany Lion basketball program are gearing up for another round of stellar camp offerings this June.

Penn State will offer five different boy’s camp experiences during the month of June ranging from Father/Son Camp (June 10-12) to Team Camp (June 16-18) to an Elite Individual Camp (June 18-19). An Instructional Camp (June 19-22) and a Day Camp (June 28-July 1) will round out the month.

"We are expecting a very exciting camp season this year as our coaching staff, former players and regional coaches gather in State College to teach the game," DeChellis said. "We are really looking forward to once again having a great number of quality teams and players from the Northeast on campus in the coming weeks and having the opportunity for them to compete in our terrific facilities and learn from a tremendous group of coaches."

All Penn State basketball camps are held on the University Park campus with campers housed in University residence halls and supervised by camp counselors.

Nittany Lion head coach Ed DeChellis, entering his ninth season at Penn State, and his staff, which includes former long-time head coach Kurt Kanaskie and former Nittany Lion All-Big Ten player Dan Earl, are actively involved in all camps. DeChellis has 15 years of experience as a collegiate head coach and was the 2009 Big Ten Coach of the Year and a two-time Southern Conference Coach of the Year while at East Tennessee State. Kanaskie, entering his ninth season at Penn State, has 18 years of experience as a head coach, including seven years at Drake University, and was an All-Big Five player at LaSalle. Earl ranks among the best players ever at Penn State posting 1,256 career points and 574 assists while twice earning All-Big Ten honors and leading Penn State to a top 10 national ranking.

"I believe it is very important that Penn State basketball camps should be fun and provide a great learning experience for each camper," DeChellis said. "Our coaching staff and camp counselors take a personal interest in each camper to help him improve his individual skills and enjoy his time at camp."
