JoAnn M. Howell, 77, of Kane, and formerly of Curwensville, passed away May 7, 2011 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie as a result of an automobile accident.
Born June 10, 1933 in Barnesboro (Northern Cambria) Cambria County, PA, she was the daughter of Hamilton P. and Grace (Bennett) McAnulty. Mrs. Howell was retired as a nurse having worked last in Sebring, FL. and prior to that had been an operator for the former Bell Telephone Co. She was Methodist by Faith.
She wed Robert E. Howell in Ebensburg, PA in 1952 and who preceded her in death on March 27, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are 2 sons, R. Douglas Howell and his wife Autumn of Curwensville and Daniel P. Howell and his wife Patricia of Palmer, Alaska. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 5 nephews, and 3 sisters. Nancy Decker and her husband Fred of St. Louis, MO, Sally Povlich and her husband Bob of Florida, and Janet Coons and her husband Dick of Curwensville.
At the request of Mrs. Howell there will be no public visitation. Private Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family with the Reverend Stephen Shields officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville, PA.
