CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive. Shaw identified the Fugitive as Rebecca Mae Martin, age 30, of Buckhorn Drive, Clearfield.
Martin was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on July 19, 2010.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Ronan states that at on Oct. 22, 2007, the victim reported to the State Police that three firearms were stolen from his residence along Barnes Lane, Woodland, Clearfield County. The firearms were identified as a Mosberg 500 Jr. 20 gauge pump shotgun, a .243 Remington with birch stock, and a .22 Ruger semi-auto rifle. The firearms were stolen when the victim and his wife were on a family vacation. In January 2009, the State Police received information that the victim’s relative may have taken the firearms and sold them to a local gun dealer. The State Police contacted a firearms store on Flegal Road, in Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, and determined that Martin sold the stolen firearms for four hundred dollars. During the sale, Martin provided her PA driver’s license and the firearms store provided a copy of the documentation to the State Police.
On Feb. 6, 2009, Trooper Ronan filed a criminal complaint charging Martin for the theft of the firearms. An arrest warrant was issued by District Magisterial Judge Michael Rubella.
Shaw stated that Martin had been listed as a “Fugitive of the Week” nearly a year ago, and that this case was more difficult to resolve so it was necessary to employ various investigative techniques in order to locate Martin. Shaw further stated that through those investigative techniques the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office was able to locate Martin in State College, and on May 4, 2011 Martin was apprehended by troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks. Martin was taken into custody without incident, and is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work with this case. Shaw also thanked the Pennsylvania State Police for their cooperation and assistance in this matter.
