CURWENSVILLE—More than 200 volunteers left the Curwensville area and served as soldiers in two companies in two regiments of the famed Pennsylvania Bucktails during America’s Civil War.
The annual memorial program honoring their service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on May 28 at the Bucktail Monument on State and Locust Streets in Curwensville.
Sponsored by the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. and co hosted by the Curwensville-Pike Township Historical Society, this year’s event will include a presentation by historical society member Tom Aaron on the history of the units, the monument and some human interest stories on the names engraved on it.
Others participating in the program are the Clearfield County Honor Guard, Civil War re-enactors and staff of the funeral home.
Following the presentation refreshments will be served on the porch of the funeral home and a gift will be available for all veterans.
