CLARION – In fall 2010, Clarion University’s Medical Imaging Sciences Club contacted PennDOT to inquire about participating in the Adopt-A-Highway Program.

Medical imaging sciences major Carly Tronzo took the leadership role for the club to establish involvement in the clean-up program.

Carly had to contact PennDot, get contracts signed by the proper individuals at Clarion, arrange pick-up dates, solicit help from club members, distribute safety gear and conduct a safety in-service to club participants.

The Medical Imaging Sciences Club was assigned a two-mile section of Stone House Road, near the Clarion Campus.

The club has held two litter clean-up events, one in fall 2010 and one more recently in early April 2011. Many club members participated and reported having fun doing so. There is now a sign erected across from the Clarion Eagles Club that pays tribute to Clarion University/Medical Imaging Club for maintaining this section of the highway.
