CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Michael Zukauskas, age 33, of Gainesville, VA.
Shaw stated that Zukauskas is wanted for failure to appear at Criminal Call on Sept. 17, 2009.
On April 4, 2009, Officer Randall Young of the DuBois City Police Department, filed a criminal complaint charging Zukauskas with: 1) driving under the influence, M; 2) careless driving, S; and 3) operation of vehicle without official certificate of inspection, S.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Young states that on Feb. 7, 2009, while on routine patrol, officers observed a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle was also observed to have an expired Certificate of Inspection. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Young detected signs of impairment and requested that Zukauskas perform field sobriety tests. After administering the field sobriety tests, Zukauskas was transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 22, 2009, at which time all charges were held for court. On Sept. 17, 2009, Zukauskas failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous e-mail tip to the Clearfield County Crimestoppers provided the location of Zukauskas. On April 27, 2011, Officers from the DuBois City Police Department apprehended Zukauskas at a residence on Garfield Avenue in DuBois City. Zukauskas was taken into custody without incident, and is lodged in the Clearfield County jail.
Shaw thanked the DuBois City Police Department for their hard work and assistance with this case.
