Obituary Notice: Anthony G. Rusonis

Anthony G. Rusonis, age 81, of Wayne Road in DuBois, PA died April 25, 2011 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.

He was born on July 18, 1929 in DuBois, PA.  He was the son of the late William & Anna (Linkaunis) Rusonis. 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He served as a medic during the Korean War.

On Sept. 26, 1953, he married Mary Jane Depello at St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church in DuBois.  She survives.

He was the maintenance mechanic for over 19 years at the Penn State DuBois Campus.  Previous to that, he worked at VT Smith Dairy for 23 years, and the DuBois Dairy for 5 years.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, the former Lithuanian Independence Club, the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17 and the Independent Political and Social Club.  He enjoyed gardening and hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his children, David Rusonis and his wife, Debbie of Pittsburgh, PA, Joseph Rusonis and his wife, Joy of York, PA, Susanne Pernesky and her husband, Jeffery of Falls Creek, PA and Janet Spearly and her husband, Jeffrey of State College, PA, a sister, Ann Matusky of Sykesville, PA, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Stanley, John, Victor and Alphonse Rusonis and two sisters, Sophie Miner and Stella Costion and two grandchildren, Kim Pernesky and David Spearly.

Public visitation will be held on April 27 from 4-8 p.m. at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home in DuBois.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. from the funeral home.

The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service on April 28 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. from the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.

Burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in DuBois.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery.
