Charles W. Bell, age 88, of Philipsburg passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the residence of his daughter, Susan Donochick of Morrisdale.
Born December 15, 1922 he was the son of the late Seth R. and Naomi Bell.
He was a member of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Hawk Run.
Mr. Bell was an Army veteran of W.W. II. His unit was involved in the third wave of the D-Day Normandy invasion.
He was employed as a maintenance man for a number of Philipsburg area companies and organizations. When he and his wife, Betty, were the first occupants to move into the newly formed Philipsburg Towers, he was hired to be the head of maintenance until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife Betty McClellan Bell; two daughters, Susan L. Denochick of Morrisdale and Sandra L. Krasinski and her companion Chuck of Munson; a son, Douglas L. McClellan, Sr. of Philipsburg, three sisters, Norma Jean Gilham of Philipsburg, Florence Wood of Philipsburg, and Frances Osborn and her husband Ozzie of Waynesboro; a brother, Harold Bell and his wife Elsie of Frenchville; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Michael denochick and Ivan L. Smeal, Jr.; one sisters, Velma Gilpatrick; and three brothers, Norman, Edward and Richard.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg with the Rev. Cliff Johnston officiating.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services at the funeral home.
Burial will be held in the Philipsburg Cemetery.
