Obituary Notice: Debra A. (Rusnak) Slogaski

Debra A. (Rusnak) Slogaski, 53, of Fernwood died Friday at the University of Pittsburgh’s Medical Center – Montefiore Hospital.

Born Feb. 18, 1958 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine “Tubby” (Laskowsky) Rusnak. She was a parishioner of the St. Barbara’s National Catholic Church, Houtzdale.

She was a 1976 graduate of the Moshannon Valley High School and was a homemaker.

She’s survived by her husband, Ed Gardner of Fernwood; a daughter, Kara Wilson and her husband, Dan of Brisbin; a son, Ed Gardner Jr. and his wife, Meagan of Fernwood; and two grandchildren, Morgan Myers and Dreiden Gardner.

Also surviving are three sisters and a brother, Karen Ross and Joe of Stockton, CA; Renee Baxter and Bob of Ramey; Michael Rusnak and Tammy of Irvona; and Michelle Berry and John of Mifflintown; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Diane (Lloyd) Gardner.

Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Ramey.  

A Vigil for the Decease will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Fr. Scott J. Lill officiating.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Barbara’s National Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Fr. Scott  J. Lill as celebrant.  

Interment will follow in St. Barbara’s National Catholic Cemetery, Houtzdale.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the American Liver Association.
