Stanley George Liberty, 90, of Pittsburgh, and formerly of Grampian, passed away April 5, 2011 at Manor Care Hospital/Nursing Facility in Whitehall.
Born March 15, 1921 in Grampian, he was the son of George and Blanche (Laskey) Liberty. Mr. Liberty was a former member of St. Bonaventure’s Roman Catholic Church in Grampian, was a U S Army Veteran of World War II and was a disabled veteran.
Surviving is a sister Deloris Kraus of Pittsburgh, 5 nephews and 2 nieces. John Liberty, Sandra Gayheart, Carol Ann Smerdell, Ronald Besikirski, and Charles, James, and Bruce Kraus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Frank “Spike” Liberty and a sister Mary Besikirski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Grampian, PA on April 9 at 11:00 a.m., with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery Grampian.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., when the procession will depart for the church.
Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Theresa’s Guild of St. Bonaventure Church Friday April 8 at 4:45 p.m. and a Scripture Vigil Wake Service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. Friday evening, both at the funeral home
