Rose Marie Cebulka, 74 of Philipsburg and formerly Hawk Run and Pittsburgh, passed away on March 29, 2011 at Windy Hill Village.
She was the daughter of the late George and Annie (Sudik) Cebulka.
She was a member of the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run and a member of the Jednota Lodge Branch 134 in Grassflat. She was employed for a number of years as a nursing instructor with various universities. She had also been employed by Queen’s College in Charlotte, NC, where she was instrumental in creating the bachelor of science in nursing program which was RN and NIN approved by the state board of North Carolina.
She was a graduate of the Morris Township High School and received RN certification from the Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing. She earned her BSN and master’s degrees in education and guidance from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and received her PhD in higher education from the University of Pittsburgh.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers George Cebulka Jr., John Cebulka, Peter R. Cebulka DVM and Steven M. Cebulka and sisters Suzanne M. and Helen Cebulka.
She is survived by sister Anna Maye Corrigan and her husband Russell of Chester Hill and 16 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on April 2 at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Hawk Run with the Rev. Peter Cebulka, nephew of the deceased, as celebrant. Burial will be at the Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Hawk Run. Visitation will be held on April 1 from 6-8 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 followed by a vigil service, both on Friday at the funeral home.
