Sunder tabbed EIVA Player of the Week

University Park, Pa. — Redshirt junior outside hitter Joe Sunder (Greensburg, Pa.) was named this week’s EIVA Player of the Week for the Tait Division. This is Sunder’s third honor of the season and the sixth for the Nittany Lions. It’s also the fourth week in a row a Penn State player has been honored by the league.

Sunder led the Nittany Lions to victories against Ball State and IPFW, both of the MIVA. Against Ball State on March 18, Sunder totaled 19.5 points after pounding 17 kills on .542 hitting and tallying two aces and one block. He also notched a team-high eight digs. The following night against IPFW, Sunder hit .381 and posted 12 kills and one block. For the weekend, Sunder averaged 4.73 kills, .33 aces, 1.50 digs, .33 blocks and 5.33 points per set.

What’s Next?
The Nittany Lions are back in action this weekend with matches at Princeton and Rutgers-Newark. Penn State returns to Rec Hall on Saturday, April 2 to host George Mason and remains at home to face Ohio State on April 10.
