Obituary Notice: William M. Daisher

William M. “Bill” Daisher, 80 of Baney Settlement, Clearfield passed away on March 23, 2011 at his home.

He was born on April 28, 1930 in Clearfield, the son of Melvin W. and Alice (Anderson) Daisher.

Mr. Daisher once worked as a printer for the Progress, was the former owner of Daisher’s Hobby Shop and retired in 1994 after 22 years as District Magistrate in Clearfield and owner of the Old Town Road Dairy in Clearfield.

He was a member of the Centre Grove United Methodist Church.

Mr. Daisher was a member of the BPOE Clearfield Lodge No. 540, a 50 year member of the United Commercial Travelers, was instrumental in the implementation of the American Disability Act of Pennsylvania and a volunteer at the Clearfield Hospital for many years.

He is survived by two daughters; Valerie J. Turner and her husband Leslie of Brunswick, GA and LuAnn Ireland and her husband Clayton of Clearfield, three grandchildren; Christy M. Ireland and her companion, Joseph Johns, Julie L. Kephart and her husband, Bernie and Joseph G. Volpe, five great grandchildren; Brandon Borger and Kaylee Borger, Tanner Kephart and twins Brady William and Brinley Rae Kephart, two step grandchildren; Leslie Turner and Robert Turner and a sister, Elizabeth J. Neligan of NC.

Mr. Daisher was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna L. (Taylor) Daisher whom he married on Nov. 25, 1950 and who passed away on May 13, 1994 and a granddaughter, Gina L. Volpe who passed away on Aug. 6, 2000.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on March 28 at the Centre Grove United Methodist Church, with Dr. Randy Willis officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.

Friends will be received at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield on March 27 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on March 28 at the Centre Grove United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Allegheny Valley School, Patricia Hillman Miller Campus, 315 W. Prospect Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
