University Park, Pa. — Penn State Nittany Lion men’s lacrosse player Austin Kaut (Morton, Pa.) has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week for the week ending March 20. This is the third time that Kaut has been named Rookie of the Week and the first time he has be named Player of the Week, sharing that honor with Towson’s Matt Hughes.
Kaut, a first-time CAA Player of the Week winner and now three-time rookie of the week, tallied a current national-best 25 saves in Penn State’s 8-7 upset win at No. 10 Massachusetts Saturday. Kaut’s .781 single-game save percentage is a career-best, while his .669 (99/148) season save percentage ranks among the league’s best among mainstay keepers.
Penn State is now 3-3 overall, 1-0 in Colonial Athletic Association action. The Nittany Lions host St. Joseph’s on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a CAA contest at Bigler Field.
