Willar Announces Candidacy for Clearfield County Coroner

Patrick J. Willar of Sandy Township, Clearfield County announces his candidacy for Clearfield County Coroner for the May 2011 primary election. Willar is a write-in candidate.

 
The primary duty of the coroner is to certify ones death. In cases where a death is not considered to be a natural death, the coroner along with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies and forensic pathologists work together to solve cases of suspicious or unexplained deaths. These cases can and do include homicides, suicides, fatal vehicle accidents and SIDS cases just to name a few.
 
Willar is a licensed funeral director and is the owner of the Dahlgren Funeral Home in Philipsburg. He is a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and  has an associates degree in business administration. He has successfully completed the coroners basic education course and examination as administered by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General and Coroners’ Education Board. This course is a required by the Coroners Education Board in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for all persons who are elected to the position of county coroner. Along with passing these requirements, Willar has also maintained the continuing education requirements of this program since completing the course in 2003.
 
In addition, he has been a certified as an emergency medical technician in the commonwealth for over 25 years. Willar is a life member of the National Rifle Association. He is also a member of the Garfield Lodge #559, Free and Accepted Masons, Eagles FOE #965, Seven Mountains Bowling Association, Allegheny Mountain Bowling Association, Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association, National Funeral Directors Association and the Clearfield-Jefferson County Funeral Directors Association. He is a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish and has one son, Antonio with whom he is active in all of his son’s activities.
