Frank L. “Chappie” Chaplin, 91 of Philipsburg, passed away on March 13, 2011 at Windy Hill Village.
Born Sept. 23, 1919 in Houtzdale, he was the son of the late Frank James and Rhoda Jane (Rosevear) Chaplin.
He was married on Sept. 2, 1956 to Yevonna (Moore) Chaplin who died Dec. 20, 2010.
He is survived by:
Three children:
Candace Shustrick of New Bren, NC
Robert Chaplin of State College
Tamara Smith and husband Todd of Boalsburg
Three grandchildren:
Marron Cox, Samuel Smith, Ava Smith
And several nieces and nephews.
He was the last of his generation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and seven brothers and sisters.
He was a 1936 Graduate of Philipsburg High School and a graduate of Federal Aviation School in Corpus Christi, TX. He was an air traffic controller for the federal government for 41 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Philipsburg. He was a Veteran of the US Navy during WWII.
He was a member of the Philipsburg BPO Elk Lodge # 1173, F&AM Moshannon Lodge #391, Brotherhood of the Jungle Cock, Spruce Creek Fisherman Club, and he was a certified Courtland Flyfishing Pro.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg with Rev. Tracie Bullis officiating. Burial will be in the Philipsburg Cemetery where Military honors will be conducted by Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard. There will be no public visitation.
