PHILIPSBURG – The Philipsburg Main Street Program Promotion Committee held its 9th Annual Chocolate Fest on March 5 at Bock’s Dining and Tea Room, in Historic Downtown Philipsburg. Over 100 people attended the event and spent the afternoon sampling chocolate from over 20 entrants and voting for their favorites.
Judging was conducted by a “change war.” The winner in the adult category was Philipsburg resident Laura Immel who received a $50 cash prize and Shianna Lambert took first place receiving a $25 cash prize in the Youth category. Both prizes were sponsored by the Philipsburg Main Street Program. Laura Immel also donated a chocolate sculpture Easter Centerpeice for the cause. It was raffled off and was won by Nancy Snyder of Philipsburg. All proceeds benefit the Philipsburg Main Street Program’s downtown revitalization efforts. Chocolate Fest is held annually on the Saturday before Lent at revolving locations throughout the Main Street Program area. The Main Street Program would like to thank Bock’s Dining and Tea Room for hosting, thank those who submitted chocolate for tasting, those who attended the event, and all the volunteers who helped put the event together.
