Vandals Cause Thousands of Dollars in Damage at Elk County Construction Site

HORTON TOWNSHIP – Police are investigating an act of criminal mischief that resulted in $20,000 in damage at a freshwater holding pond.

According to the state police in Ridgway, the freshwater holding pond is owned by Flatirons Development LLC, a gas production company out of Denver, CO. Police said that someone entered a site, owned by Brockway Water Authority, and damaged heavy equipment belonging to Force Inc. of Indiana. Someone shot the windows of the equipment, placed unkown substances in the fuel tanks and damaged the exterior of the equipment.

Someone also drove a compactor over a silt fence belonging to Flatirons Development LLC and  a portable toilet owned by TH Port-A-John of Mahaffey. Those involved also stole two 5 pound fire extinguishers.

A $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of those responsible is being offered by Force Inc. Anyone with information is asked to contact the state police at 814-776-6136.
