Dorothy J. Johnston, 82, of DuBois died Tuesday at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Born on June 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Bertha (Mehok) Kartavich. She was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the former Fourth Ward Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the Christ the King Manor Auxiliary.
Mrs. Johnston retired from the doctor’s office of Fatula and Orris after 15 years of service. Prior to her employment there, she worked at the DuBois Hospital. She enjoyed puzzles and was an avid reader and sewer.
On Oct. 4, 1947, she married James N. Johnston. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2005. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Anthony Johnston and an infant brother.
She’s survived by two sons, David J. Johnston and his wife, Kimberly of Punxsutawney and Michael B. Johnston and his wife, Rene of DuBois; one daughter, Deborah A. Fischer and her husband, Michael of Zelienople; two sisters, Evelyn Simbeck of DuBois and Sister Rita Kartavich of DuBois; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
The rosary will be prayed on at 1:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 3:30 P.M. Thursday from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with the Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Catherine Cemetery.
